I am sorry to hear about this act of violence, but i hope this should serve as a wake up call to us (believers) to draw close to the Lord and not allow our flesh to rule us. May the Lord use this for good- to turn a bad situation into a seeking for God’s perfect will for Bebe, renouncing sin, pride and every evil way and turn back to his first love, Jesus and the spirit of himility. Repent, and start afresh; live for Jesus. Are we not His workmanship created unto good works for His glory?

    • Tracey Ricks Foster says:

Thank you for your comments, Ms. Pitts! I trust that Bebe has a support system that will get him through this difficult time.

at the end of the day,it doesnt matter what anyone thinks.who are we to judge?however it doesnt look good.

    • Tracey Ricks Foster says:

      Mark,

At the end of the day, it does matter! All us need to put ourselves in a position to judge when a man assaults a woman. And vice versa. We are supposed to be nation of civilized, advanced people, yet time and time again, we resort to violence to make our point. To be honest, what is the difference between the Bebe Winans / Chris Brown incident and the Iraq war?

Why is he just being arrested now when he hurt his wife almost 1 month ago?

  5. Krys says:

I think it is kind of ridiculous to blame BeBe Winans issues on the devil. To bang someone’s face in the concrete after singing the gospel all your life not only shows you are a hypocrit, but you are seriousouly arrogant and haneous. Instead of being worried about him having a support network, we should be concerend that his ex-wife, with a beat up face has a support network. My heart especially goes out to the kids!

I think that this entire situation could have been handled totally different. Sometimes when things like this comes out in the public eye, we get all shocked about it. However, this was probably going on before now and the wife and kids didn’t want the public to view BeBe different in their eyes. Sometimes when we keep things in the dark so long, God will always shed light in due season. This should be a learning tool for all of us. I am not coming against him in any way, but if it was someone on the streets, they would have been detained in jail longer and been charged more than a thousand dollars. The system should work the same for everyone, whether you are a Gospel singer or a regular working person on the streets. If God has no respect of person, then why should we. He really need to take anger manage classes and domestic violence classes. The ex wife need to have a support group that she can go to along with the kids in this matter.www.aplusangermanagement.ws coming in April

      Pastor Nichols,

Your comment was well written and brings up quite a few points that all of us should consider. I am a life long Winans Family fan. I am also a native Detroiter who was brought up in a city that loves the Winans Family. I still have a whole lotta love for Bebe. The fact is that we as fans, along with the media machine, place entertainers on a pedestal. When these do not live up to our expectations by acting human, or the media tires of them, they fall from grace with a loud thump! It is unfortunate that we expect greater things from celebrities than we do from our own selves!

  8. Donna says:

Why do everyone thinks that just because a person sings gospel, that they are a christian….. Music recording is just a business………..Not the church or salvation redemption!!!!

    • Tracey Ricks Foster says:

      Hi Donna,

I think that a lot of folks hold Gospel artists to a high standard simply because of the message that they sing. Many Gospel artist claim that they “are on a mission from God” to spread “His Good News.” There are a great number of Gospel artists that are ministers, pastors and reverends. In this country, as well as others, religious figures are recognized as pillars and saints, leading the blind and unbelievers to Salvation.

Yes, the Gospel end of the recording industry is about making that chedder. But Gospel has been known to be above that which has “secular” value. So, when you have an Gospel artist or a religious figure react in a dysfunctional human way, because of the stature that these give themselves coupled with the power that religious followers and fans distribute to elevate them, the instand reaction is shock, horror, and disbelief.

It also puts fallen religious leaders and Gospel artists in the category of hypocrites. I am not calling Bebe Winas or anyone else a hypocrite. But I am saying that we have to stop elevating mere human beings to idol status because they are just that…human beings.
