Legendary Gospel recording artist Bebe Winans was arrested Wednesday on a charge of domestic assault in Nashville. The charge stems from a violent altercation that took place with his ex-wife last month, The Smoking Gun reports.
According to Nashville officials, on February 13, Winans reportedly went to his ex-wife’s residence to pick up his children in accords with their custody agreement and was confronted by Debra Winans about a matter relating to the children. An argument ensued and according to police records, Winans smashed his ex-wife’s face into the concrete.
Benjamin “Bebe” Winans was charged with a misdemeanor domestic assault and held at the Davidson County Jail until he was released on a $1000 bond.
Bebe Winans is known for his successful musical partnership with sister, Cece Winans in the eighties and nineties, garnering twelve R&B hit singles including two number ones. Winans is the recipient of five Grammy awards, eight Dove awards, two NAACP awards, and over a dozen Stellar awards.
